Our Managing Director, Ian Donley and the wider management team are committed to the principles of IIP, and it is at the heart of developing our Business strategies. IIP is at the core of our business, the principles are fully embedded within our business strategies, our behaviours and our values. TVLL are continuously improving our business performance through our people.
We have annual and six monthly appraisal processes linked to the business strategy that provides all employees with the opportunity to develop skills and experience to and recognise their contribution to the success of the business.
Staff involvement is encouraged, through:
- Staff Elected Board Members
- Team Meetings and Briefings
- Joint Consultation Committee
- Road Shows
- Recognition and Suggestion schemes
- Action and Project Teams
We have an impressive portfolio of regular internal training and development to provide our staff with the skills, knowledge, motivation, and development opportunities to work effectively, through involvement and effective Leadership and Management.
Our comprehensive and training and development plan enables us to ensure that all staff are equipped with the required skills that will ensure them to provide a high quality service and meet business goals and targets.
At our last Investors in People review in April 2009 the assessor gave the following feedback:
“Tees Valley Leisure Limited has clearly demonstrated that it continues to meet the Investors in People standard. It therefore gives the assessor pleasure to confirm that the organisation continues to meet all requirements and therefore continues to be recognised as an Investor in People.”
This demonstrates that staff development at Tees Valley Leisure Ltd, including a range of learning and development processes and practices, is firmly embedded across all our centres such that our staff constantly receive training to ensure they provide a safe, supportive environment for our customers in all aspects of fitness and leisure. An example of this is our lifeguards; they are all trained regularly to be competent and qualified on the poolside.
That is just one example – the Investors in People Standard demands that all our people are given the opportunity to learn, develop, gain new skills and identify career opportunities – and that is what we do’
As part of our Continuous Improvement Strategy our IIP re-assessment will happen again in March 2012. The feedback we receive from our assessor is embedded in our business strategy to help us improve the way we work.
